Why Poolina exists
Poolina is a hobby project. There’s no company behind it, no investors and no business plan. It’s run privately, without any commercial interest.
Why I built it
Other ride-sharing platforms charge a fee for every seat, or they’re frustrating to use. I’m convinced that sharing rides is a good idea, and finding each other shouldn’t cost extra. So I built the platform I wanted to use myself.
Why sharing rides matters
Fuel is expensive. A shared ride makes long distances affordable for passengers and cheaper for drivers. It also means fewer cars on the road and less CO₂, and now and then a good conversation with someone you’d never have met otherwise.
What that means for you
- No fees, ever. Poolina takes nothing from drivers or passengers. The contribution goes from passenger to driver, in person, and only covers costs.
- No ads, no tracking. No advertising, no analytics, and your data is never sold.
- Only what’s needed. We store as little about you as possible, on a server in Germany, and you can delete everything at any time.
- Simple to use. Find a ride, write to the driver, travel together.
If you like the idea, tell others about it. Every ride offered makes Poolina more useful for everyone.
